Our Script:
OUR PROPS:
The fedora hat is to be used by at least one of the detectives. This is so it can give a common convention that the character is clearly a detective.
The gun is also used by the detectives to show that they are not messing around with what they are doing and they will use them to intimidate and even shoot. The cigarette would be used by the femme fatale showing she doesn't really care what the interrogators say to her and she is just all relaxed being the manipulative woman she is. The blazer would also be worn by the detectives to show that they are clean and smart for the job, and also another convention to show the character are playing the role of a detective. |
In the current scene you can see, i am holding the light to make it look like there is a lamp on top on Saad's head swaying up and down as if he's in a cell of some sort. Shivani in the scene was recording and making sure the lamp itself isn't in the shot otherwise is stops the illusion of it being an interrogation room and will seem sort of vague and uninteresting.

Alonzo Smith
[Detective]
This is one of the detectives from the file noir intro. He is not as harsh as his partner. He is sort of in the background just listening on what is going on in the scene and asks question to the "Framed" victim about whether he did the murder or not and try to make the victim soil out on what happened and/or what he thinks has had happened. He is hold a gun showing he doesn't mess around with what he's doing and he won't take anything from you, he will believe you from time to time but when he doesn't, he's not gonna believe anything you say from then on afterwards. In this photo Detective Alonzo Smith is wearing a fedora hat and a suit. He is also holding a gun and has a police badge in his left jacket pocket. We chose to dress him like this so it was obvious that he was a police detective, as that's how they would normally dress at that time.In this photo Detective Alonzo Smith is wearing a fedora hat and a suit. McPherson
[Detective]
We dressed Detective McPherson in a fedora hat, trench coat, gun, police badge and tie. We chose to dress him like this because this was also a very popular look for police Detectives in the 1940s.
Detective McPherson is a tough detective and is not against using physical force with suspects when necessary, also he is a very short tempted person and loses his temper very easily. His partner is Detective Alonzo Smith and together they are a good cop bad cop duo, they are also working together on a case in which Detective McPherson believes that the suspect Andy McGuffins is guilty and trying to lie to them. |
Andy McGuffins
Andy McGuffin is wearing a Orange prison jumpsuit and chains around his hand and legs. We chose to dress him like this because we wanted to make it very obvious to the audience that he was a murder suspect and the orange jumpsuit helped make it very clear.
We named him McGuffins because usually a McGuffin is the central focus of the film in the first act, and therefore declines in importance. It may reappear at the climax of the story but sometimes is actually forgotten by the end of the story, which is similar idea to what we want to do in our opening. Andy McGuffins is a man who has been accused of murder. He meets a women in a bar and later is being accused of murdering the women's husband. he is arrested and is trying to plead for his innocence and try and lead them to the real killer the dead mans wife. |
Veronica Lake
We chose Veronica Lake to wear a big hat with a red trench coat and a black dress. We chose the hat because it give her an air of mystery as her face is covered in shadows and you cant really see her face. We also dressed her in a black dress because the connotations of black are death. We also gave her a cigarette to smoke as this is a typical Film Noir convention. Veronica Lake is a femme fatale who is trying to frame Andy McGuffins for the murder of her husband. She is a very beautiful but deceptive women who know how to lie and get out of trouble. She also knows how to play the 'damsel in distress' very well and often uses her good looks to get men to do her dirty work for her.

What we did for green screen
We are not going to edit in an image for the green screen instead were just going to keep it the same and then change it to black and white because it will end up looking like a dark grey interrogation room. Also the swinging light will make seem like something is not right along with the shadows creating more mystery and suspense.
Using the black and white green screen i think had more of an effect than just changing it, i felt as if it would change the illusion tat we are in a interrogation room. |

The Results
Questionnaire Analysis
From the results I have gotten from my questionnaire I can see that although there are many positive responses there are also some responses that tell me what I can improve. An example of a good response is when 92.9% of people said that my Film Noir opening interested them. Also when asked whether my Film Noir opening looked like an authentic 1940s Film Noir 85.7% said yes. The responses from the questionnaire also give me an example of what can be improved, when asked what could be improved 42.9% said that the setting and location could have been picked better. From this i can see most people have enjoyed the opening we have made and consider it to be suitable for the film noir genre, so it is relevant ad consists of all stereotypes and conventions it is meant to have. Also i can see that some people did not like the setting we chose as a group, there fore that is something we could think about an work on to make it better, for example we could have used the alley way. But that was too busy.
Also for the question "What are the key conventions for Film Noir" we had most of what people rated the most. For example the narration we had and the costume. the coats and hats for Femme Fatale and the smart clothing and investigator/forensic like for the Detectives.
We had an even split on Narrative, Story line, Acting and dialogue to be improved at 14.3% each. This shows that there is a wide range we need to improve in and not mainly on one.
